Libertas is a beautifully maintained 70ft traditional stern narrowboat built by Steve Hudson that offers a seamless mix of heritage character and modern comfort. Powered by the highly regarded Russell Newbury DM2 engine and featuring a dedicated engine room, this vessel is ideal for both extended cruising and full-time living aboard.
Inside, the boat is finished in solid English oak from floor to ceiling, creating a warm, timeless interior. Sprayfoam insulation ensures comfort throughout the seasons. The layout sleeps up to six, with a fixed double bed, a convertible L-shaped dinette, and a make-up double in the boatman’s cabin—perfect for family life or hosting guests.
The galley is fully equipped with a Vanette cooker, 12v fridge/freezer, and Candy washing machine. Heating is provided by a Mikuni central heating system and a Morso Squirrel stove, with hot water via a calorifier/immersion/Mikuni. There are two pump-out toilets, a full shower, and a rear ensuite—offering privacy and convenience rarely seen on boats of this size.
Libertas also features a highly capable electrical system: Mastervolt 2.5kW inverter, Whispergen 3.5kW cocooned generator, and dual solar systems (30amp controller for a panel on the roof, 60amp controller for the panel at the mooring), plus a full 12v/240v setup, 1 starter, 5 leisure, and 2 bow thruster batteries.
Handling is smooth and responsive, thanks to the PRM 260 gearbox and a Nobels 12v bow thruster. With reliable power systems, she’s well equipped for long stretches off-grid.
Recent care includes a hull blacking in 2023, engine service in November 2024, and generator service in June 2025. A current BSC is valid until 2028.
From craftsmanship to capability, Libertas is ready for her next chapter.

A boat is not valued on its age. The age of a boat is irrelevant. A boat is valued based on who built the hull? Who fitted the boat out and what type of materials were used (Hard wood or MDF etc) What equipment does the boat have (Bow thruster, generator, inverters etc) These are just a few of the many factors that equate to the correct value of a boat.

BUYERS & SELLERS
When you buy a boat from us you pay all monies in to our company clients trust account which means that the buyers and sellers money is protected. This is the same account that solicitors set up for house sales .This money does not belong to the company it belongs to the buyer until the sale is complete and then we pay the seller from the company clients trust account. We cannot release the money from the Clients Trust Account to the seller until the vessel has been accepted and handed over to the buyer because if there was a fault with the vessel and the buyer refused to accept it and wanted their money back we could not do this because the seller would of already had the money. This could become a very costly and messy problem for all parties.
This money never enters our company current account. This also means that we cannot use customers money for other purchases/reasons. If at any point the company went bust then the buyers/sellers money is safe and it would go back to the rightful owner of the money.
We have had this company clients trust account set up from day one to protect our customers money. This account is a secure holding account. We pay the seller monies due from this account when the buyer has signed to accept the vessel. Payment is made from this account to the seller by cheque from the clients Trust Account which is protected guaranteed funds.
